Lavender and Provence

My Lavender is in full bloom at the moment and there is nothing reminds me more of Provence than this beautiful plant. Today I gathered some of the flowers and plan to steep them for several weeks in Olive oil to make some Lavender Olive Oil.

This is a beautiful reminder in winter of those wonderful sunny days when Lavender was in full bloom.

It’s really easy to make I tend to save sauce bottles or those of a similar size, just make sure you sterilise them first before use. Then fill bottle with good quality virgin olive oil, add Lavender flowers then leave in a dark cupboard for several weeks. Then simply remove flowers and strain into another clean bottle and voila beautiful Lavender olive oil which taste great as a salad dressing.

Also makes a lovely Christmas gift if you entwine a few sprigs of Lavender to the bottle.
